Hangman stats

Ok here goes

Downloads
Ad-Supported Version
Total: 3000+
Android Market: 1,032
Slideme.org: 1775
mobango.com: 395
The slideme.org version started great after being on the first page for 2 days, but version in the Android Market is catching-up. The mobango version was added later, however it does now appear first when the user searches for 'hangman'.

Paid Version
Total: 7
slideme.org: 5
Android Market: 2

Leadbolt Ads:
Now, I think I could improve the placement of ads in the game. As for money from the ads,(I have one banner ad on the title screen and then a wall ad that appears in between each game) it's certainly slowed down from the initial 2 or 3 dollars a day. It's been 12 days, and I'm earning between 0.06 to 0.60 $ a day.

Ad-revenue: $12.04
Paid: less than $3 (although I can only take the money from the android market sales at the moment ($1+), because slideme.org requires you to make $100 before you can take it out)

Android Game 2: Pixel Strip

Pixel Strip.
Available here

This a game that takes the michael out of classic adult 16/32 bit games, (promising full nudity, but in the end displaying very little of the rude parts due to the pixelated graphics)

"You are represented in the game as an old balding dirty old man.
One day after getting to excited about another video of Briany Smears, you fall over off your stained chair and bump your head.
You wake-up. It's another average morning, yet somehow you feel different. It's your hands, they're alive with the dance of the game of Rock, Paper and Scissors.

You decide to use your new found power, to challenge beautiful woman to a stripping contest. Whoever loses, strips!"

There are five women who you challenge to a game of strip 'rock, paper and scissors'.

stats.not yet

I was thinking of giving stats of downloads of the free version and paid version everyday, but I think that is going overboard.

So, maybe I'll release them at the end of the week. So anyone in a similar position can have a good idea.

Stats First Day

I thought I'd release some stats.

I've released my games on the Android Market:
Sionco on Android Market

and on slide me (the slide me full version being slightly cheaper, as the android market as a limit on some countries)

Sionco on Slide me

It's been two days since I've released the paid app
and one and a day since I've released the ad supported free app

On slide me:
I've had 2 completed purchases of the full version
326 downloads of the free limited ad-supported version

on Android Market (of the first day and a half)
0 purchases
65 downloads of the free limited ad-supported version.

From the adds using two in-game adds from leadbolt.net, I've got 0.65$.

I think it's helped with slideme having newer apps on the front page, so it's got a lot more screen time.

But, as my first try at developing an Android game, I'm very happy with that!

Hangman for English Learners - Free Version

I've also released a free version of my hangman game.

This version has only ten subjects (compared to the 18 in the full version), and I probably won't update them (I might change my mind depending on what I make from the ads).
And also, it's add supported. It contains a small add that shows on the main screen, and one that shows after you finish a round of hangman.

I was considering push adds, that appear in the notification area, but after reading negative comments about them, and having experienced one myself (from which I promptly uninstalled the game which had it), I decided just to have the in game ads that show in a box, I'm using leadbolt's service, I'll update the blog with my experiences, but I've heard a couple of good words from other people who've used them.

Hopefully, what I wish for is that these adds can help with the food shopping.

Hangman Full Version

Hangman Free Basic Version

After releasing my first Android App..

Before I set out in making the android game, I knew that there's a whole load of hangman games on the Android market, so I wasn't really holding my breathe for any sales. (even though looking at it as a developer, the prices for some of these apps are ridiculously cheap). - Check my games out here.

But even if it doesn't sell I will continue to update it with new word lists, and improvements as my knowledge of android development continues.

What did I get out of it?

Well two things, the first being a sense of satisfaction on completing a game (even if it isn't a technically advanced game to program) and having some of my work for sale.

Secondly, an advanced knowledge of how developing and submitting a game to the Android market works. I had various setbacks. in the development stage, which I had to work out, and took a lot of time, which won't be repeated, and even in submitting my first app, it was three times lucky, in that I made small mistakes, such as not seeing that you can't change a free app to a paid app after you've submitted it.

So my advice would re-utter the advice of so many other people in the indie games development scene, in that you should start with something small, as this will allow you to make any errors, which you WILL make with the small game, so when you come to making the bigger game that you've always wanted to, it will go smoother, and you'll have more time on coding and less frustrations.

sionco.com

I eventually did buy www.sionco.com, using godaddy.com.
I feel it was better as it was about the same amount as sionco.info would have costed, and .com is a more used domain name.

Finally, Available on the Android Market

Click here for my first game that's published on the Android market:

Click here: Hangman on Android Market

To be honest I'm excited that it's there. Whether it get's any sales or not, is another thing.

But I do hope to get some sales, through to the promise that it will be updated regularly with new topics and words.

currently it has 18 topics and over 600 words. I hope to add a new topic every week.
Also, I'd like to add some new features like

Hangman Android App/Game for sale on slideme

I've finally released my hangman Android game for sale.
While I'm waiting for it to appear on the Android market here is the link to the hangman app on the slideme website:

http://slideme.org/application/hangman-9

A description:

A game of classic hangman that is designed for both learners of the English language and native English speakers.

Currently featuring 18 different topics (with more topics to be added regularly)

Over 605 words (with more to be added in updates).

Also, if the google translate application is installed, the program will translate the word into your language, just by pressing the translate button at the end of a game.

If you are learning English this is the version of hangman to have. Created by a teacher of English.

Hangman, nearly finished!

I've nearly finished my first game. It's a version of hangman for learners of the English language. It hasn't been the most taxing of projects, but it has been a nice little project to help me learn my way around creating simple educational games for Android. And another thing it's a finished game, which has been one thing I haven't achieved before.

The game features different selectable subjects, such as animals, sports, countries, from where the words are randomly selected. Also, it has the option for the user to use Google's translate application to translate the word into their own language.

I still have to improve the look of it a little more and also add some more word lists, but tomorrow I hope to upload it to the Android Market place. I'm not sure of the price I'll give it, but I'll keep you updated on my progress.

After it's published, I hope to add regular updates, such as a new word lists every so often. (ideally weekly or fortnightly). I also hope to add a score, so the user can keep track of their progress in each subject and also difficulty levels.

Android

I've downloaded a copy of basic4android because I'm interested in developing mainly educational games for mobile phones, and was looking for something that's not too far away from what I'm used to.

So, I was pleasantly surprised with the ease basic4android allowed me to do this, from testing the game on my own mobile phone to designing the screen for it.

In the first afternoon that I've played with this not overpriced toy, I've managed to create a simple hangman game, that's shown in this screenshot. I can't let anyone play it at the moment as I haven't yet got an Android developers license and am only using the trial version of basic4android, but I'm mightily impressed and am considering buying it. I do feel that it could a good bit of software for the type of educational games that I'm thinking of creating.

weebly and sionco.com .info?

I have no skills for website design. So, I've used a service called weebly, that's has a quite good wysiwyg web page designer compared to others I've seen in the past. It's also allowed for me to put a flash game on the website.

Weebly: http://www.weebly.com/link/E7FopG

My website: sionco.weebly.com

Also, I haven't renewed sionco.info, but, I'm considering buying sionco.com or similar. Watch this space!
