El Penalti de Messi - La Leyenda del Larguero

I've released my second 'joke' game following the success of the Sergio Ramos Penalty game.  It's called The Penalty of Messi - The Legend of the crossbar.  This game is about the Champions League semi-final match between Barcelona and Chelsea where Lionel Messi took a penalty and hit the crossbar.  A penalty which could have won the game for Barcelona.

In the game, you are Messi and you have to hit the crossbar, if you miss or score a goal, you are deducted points.

The Penalti of Ramos reaches the trending and top free new apps lists

Wow I've created a monster!
The Penalty of Ramos or El Penalti de Ramos, which I admit is my worst game ever is now at now number 16 in the Most Popular Android Apps List:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/collection/movers_shakers
and number 45 in the top new free Android applications list:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/collection/topselling_new_free?start=24&num=24

However, even though ratings are either 5 star for the joke or 1 star because it's a bad game, I am pleased that a non-American-targeted and non-English game is doing so well, and hell this is my first time on any of the front pages of the Google Play store for Android.  So I will enjoy the success, even if the reputation of my game-making skills does take a hit.

From a suggestion in a comment, I have nearly finished a similar game for Lionel Messi and his penalty against Chelsea in the Champions League where he hit the cross bar.  It's called The Penalty of Messi: The Legend of the crossbar.   It's a tiny bit different to The Penalty of Ramos and I will write a blog post here, when it's accepted into Google's Play store.

New Plan of Action for Sionco

After careful thought I have come up with a plan for the immediate future of Sionco.

After, the recent success of my (admittedly) worst game el Penalti de Ramos, which I made as a joke for one of my students (I'm an English teacher in Spain), and the time it's taking to rewrite and re-plan my biggest project yet (a Formula One management game for Android and the PC), I've decided for the moment, to try and make a small Android arcade game every week (or every two weeks) and then when each game is completed, use any time left in that week to continue making the F1 Manager games.

The reason for this, is that I wish to make enough from advertising in the small games to be able to reduce my working hours a little (even if only 1 or 2 hours less) so that I will have more time to work on the big projects.

Ads: Targeting other countries works!

I recently released a joke football game called El Penalti de Ramos (or The Penalty of Ramos) which is available here.  To be honest it's a very bad game, and I released it more as a joke about Sergio Ramos's Champions League Semi-final penalty miss against Bayern Munich where he kicked the ball high over the cross-bar.

In Spain the media were full of jokes about how Ramos missed the penalty, but in other countries this wasn't the case.  So, this app is targeted at Spain.

As usual I put ads from Leadbolt in the game and released it for free.  Now, I was disappointed by amount of downloads and lack of money from advertising in the first few days. But I don't know whether it was because of my Spanish blog post or something else, but for three days the amount of downloads has been between 200 and 700 a day, and I'm very pleased with the amount I have made so far from Leadbolt from this game.

It has meant that for 7 days, the main source of income from Leadbolt ads has been from Spain (before this it has been 80% from the USA).  While, I hope the this continues, this does prove that it is possible to have country specific apps that make money.

I can't recommend Leadbolt enough for your Android apps.  If you do sign up, please support me by signing up using this referral link:

El Penalti de Ramos / The Penalty of Ramos Android App

Following Real Madrid's Sergios Ramos penalty miss against Bayern Munich in the Champions League Semi-final, there were many jokes comparing Ramos's Penalties to Rugby kicks, So I have made a joke game app, where the purpose of the game is to hit the ball over the goal and hit the birds and astronauts.  This isn't a serious game, it's just a bit of fun joking about Ramos.

Available here for free:

Después de Sergio Ramos penalti contra el Bayern Munich en la Champions League, habia muchas bromas comparando el penalti de Ramos a las patadas de rugby, así que he hecho un juego de broma, donde el objetivo del juego es disparar la bola mas alto de la porteria y golpear a las aves y los astronautas.  Esto no es un juego serio, es sólo un poco de diversión bromeando sobre Ramos.

Grand Prix Race Manager (PC day 5 & Android Day 11) Update

Today, I've spent a few hours on both the PC and Android Versions of my (hopefully) up and coming Formula One Grand Prix Management game.
I've spent the day working with the championship tables, making sure they work with no problems and include drivers that are sacked / fired half way through the season.  I've also had to redo the development of new parts for the android version.

F1 Race Manager PC Day 5

Ok,
Today, I've only had 2 hours to work on the PC version of the game but I've added the ability to improve parts.  You can select which parts you want to improve, and they are improved after every race depending on the amount of parts in development and the number of staff. Although, eventually, I do hope to improve the graphics of this, and have a clickable car, here is a screenshot.

I'm still alive. Currently considering whether to continue the racing game in 3D with monkey or change to Unity3D (which I've been ...
